Head of Research and Economics and Chief Economist
After obtaining his degree in Economics, Stefan Bielmeier started his career at Deutsche Bank AG in 1996. In June 2010 Stefan Bielmeier joined DZ BANK where he is Head of the Research and Economics Division and the bank’s Chief Economist. He is thus responsible for the division’s strategic orientation, for all DZ BANK’s economic and financial market forecasts as well as for the development of the bank’s position on questions of social and economic policy. He also addresses these issues at a large number of public client events as well as in the media. In addition, Stefan Bielmeier sits on several committees. His main goal in all these areas of activity is to develop suitable investment strategies for private investors in a difficult environment.
Besides his responsibilities at DZ BANK, Stefan Bielmeier is also Chairman of the Executive Board of the DVFA - Deutsche Vereinigung für Finanzanalyse und Asset Management e.V., the society of investment professionals in Germany. The goal of the DVFA and its members is to foster the image of the profession, to enhance the conditions in which it is exercised and to promote the public’s appreciation of it.
Mr. Bielmeier also heads the "Retail Clients and Equity Research" department which is the central contact partner for the local cooperative banks in matters related to the research retail business.
This department controls the flow of information between the Research division’s experts and offers services for the local cooperative banks’ account managers in the form of different research packages, specialist presentations for client events as well as training for investment advisers, telephone conferences on current capital market developments, retail customer publications and regular expert videos. In addition, the department is responsible for the internet presence. It is also home to research into derivatives and commodities, as well as for technical stock market analysis and equity strategy. What’s more, investment strategies are developed within the framework of strategic asset allocation and investment certificate strategies are formulated to suit the current market situation.
The department is also home to Equity Research, which analyses around 300 companies, in particular from the DAX, MDAX, TecDax and SDAX, as well as the largest European and US blue chip companies and other selected companies worldwide.
A separate focal point in the department is sustainability analysis, which serves to assess listed companies on the basis of their ecological, social and corporate governance profiles as well as on the basis of their key financials.
